New
Mexico
Sky

One of the things I love most about New Mexico are the beautiful sunsets. The sky turns the most awesome shade of watermelon and coral. It makes you want to take a juicy bite. Right now New Mexico is in its monsoon season. I have seen more rain this week than I have seen for several years. I never knew the desert southwest could bloom this intensely. Despite the rain I drove in to town for a party. It was an interesting mix of people.
We all sat in the rain, ate shrimp, drank sangria the color of sunsets, and celebrated birthdays. It was the night to celebrate everyone's day.

I am not a person who mingles comfortably. I prefer intimacy in small numbers. I feel awkward and uncomfortable like a sardine in the can. I, I, I, am shy...

Tonight as I drove home I looked into the night sky. The clouds glowed in the moonlight. I always loved the New Mexico Sunsets but tonight I found the night sky reminded me of abalone. All smooth and translucent. Different shade of pinks, hints of gold and salmon, pale blue-greens and glowing whites. I have never seen a night sky so colorful. The clouds look soft as cotton. Tonight I will rest my weary head in the night sky and dream sweet sweet sleep.
